Eight Books Guaranteed To Break Your Reading Slump!

Reading slumps, am I right?
There's nothing more tragic when you're making your way through your tbr, getting through some amazing reads, when you get hit by the sudden (and sometimes very long lasting) urge to stop reading.
Trust me, I've been there. Sometimes even for months at a time!
So, we've established they're a bit awful, but what can we do about it?
Well, today I wanted to share with you eight books that have helped me to break my reading slumps.
1. The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
The Silent Patient is one of those books that I recommend to absolutely everyone who like a good psychological thriller. It's fast-paced, mysterious, and will keep you turning those pages once you start!

2. The Housemaid by Sarah A. Denzil
Keeping with the theme of psychological thriller and suspense, The Housemaid is a more recent, lesser known books that had me hooked from page one. Personally, I am a huge fan of Sarah's works and this one did not disappoint! Her writing is spot on and gives you the perfect mix of suspense, creepiness and just flat out fear.

3. This Poison Heart by Kalynn Bayron
For a little change in pace, This Poison Heart is a fast=paced, exciting, intriguing Young Adult Fantasy with a very cool setting - an old, inherited mansion with lots of strange secrets. This book got me out of a particularly long reading slump last year, so I will recommend it forever!

4. Six Crimson Cranes by Elizabeth Lim
With another Young Adult from not too long ago, Six Crimson Cranes was a fast-paced fairytale retelling that had me reading without a pause. And dangerously slow; I refused to do anything but read when I started this gem!
Shiori, the only princess of Kiata, has a secret. Forbidden magic runs through her veins. Normally she conceals it well, but on the morning of her betrothal ceremony, Shiori loses control. 5. The House in The Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune
The House in The Cerulean Sea was honestly the book equivalent of being wrapped up in a warm blanket in your pyjamas in the middle of December, hot cup of hot chocolate in hand, while watching snow fall outside.

6. The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
The Midnight Library is one of those books that you just need to read at some point. And I'll be honest, the short chapters are really helpful when you're in a reading slump! I will say, though, that you should definitely check out the trigger warnings before reading this book.
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better?

7. The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren
The Unhoneymooners (18+ for this one, please!) is a light-hearted, funny, romcom-type romance novel that I simply could not put down! The enemies to lovers and fake dating tropes are prominent in this story, so if you enjoy those, you'll love this book!
Olive is always unlucky: in her career, in love, in…well, everything. Her identical twin sister Ami, on the other hand, is probably the luckiest person in the world. Her meet-cute with her fiancé is something out of a romantic comedy (gag) and she’s managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a series of Internet contests (double gag). Worst of all, she’s forcing Olive to spend the day with her sworn enemy, Ethan, who just happens to be the best man.
Olive braces herself to get through 24 hours of wedding hell before she can return to her comfortable, unlucky life. Am I an adult? Yes. Do I still love children's fiction? Absolutely yes! Amari and The Night Brothers is fast-paced, filled with fun adventures and mystery, as well as an exciting world and intricate magical systems, and I for one loved it!
