Before I say anything else, can we appreciate the covers for these books? I mean seriously, they're stunning!

So, incase you couldn't tell by the covers (particularly the beautiful dress), A Court Of Fairy Tales is a YA Fantasy series based on Beauty and the Beast. The first book is a Beauty and the Beast retelling and the following books continue on from there. The series has romance, an element of mystery and adventure.

This series is definitely such a unique series and I'll admit I read all three books in about a day and a half. I just couldn't put them down!

Book One: An Enchantment of Thorns

Blurb:

A fae beast. An enchanted forest. A beauty destined to break the curse upon them...

As town greenwitch, Aster’s spent her whole life defending her people from the nightmarish fae of the forest. Yet despite her best efforts, each year a girl is taken by the fae Beast who rules the Folkwood, sacrificed to the ancient faerie magic of the Tithe.

And this year, the Beast claims Aster.

When he whisks her away to his lavish woodland Court, Aster finds herself prisoner in a cursed mansion laced with enchantments and filled with hordes of wicked faerie servants. Not to mention there’s the Beast himself, whose savage beauty and dark magic never fail to remind Aster of his predatory fae nature.

But when the Beast realizes Aster is more powerful than she ever could have guessed, he offers her a deal. Her freedom in exchange for her help breaking the curse on his Court.

As feelings blossom between the two of them, their faerie bargain will force Aster to choose: her people or her heart.

My Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

An Enchantment of Thorns is definitely a Beauty and The Beast retelling. And it was everything I needed it to be.

When I started this book, I was so intrigued. The world is absolutely unique and the characters are fascinating. The magic system in this world, and the way it was introduced, was really different to anything I've ever read before. Plus, how could you not love a good story with fae?

Anyway, this story was so fun, really interesting (even though the story was similar to the fairytale) and the ideal book for an easy, enchanting read.

Book Two: A Trial of Thorns

My Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

*I won't be posting the blurb here, because it does contain spoilers for the end of book 1*

This book was, again, really unique. It's so easy for a Beauty and The Beast retelling to be too basic, or too similar to the original, or even too similar to other retellings, but I haven't read anything like this one before!

Even though it is a continuation, and still has the same kind of tone as the first book, which is incredibly difficult to pull off, it's so different! It was really fast-paced, which I love in a book, and we got to experience a lot more of the world that we hadn't learned too much about in book 1.

I loved that some of the minor characters in book 1 came back as more major characters, but the new characters were just as intriguing! This book absolutely did not disappoint.

Book Three: A Promise of Thorns

My Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

*I won't be posting the blurb here, because it does contain spoilers for the end of book 1*

I was ridiculously happy with this book. It was fast-paced, again, with equal amounts of action and story. My favourite characters (Mosswhistle) came back and, once again, we were able to learn more about the world and discover it with the characters.

We get to learn more about the history of the fae, and see how history progresses. It's really fun watching the characters change and grow, and the end result is completely satisfying!

I would absolutely adore a second series as a follow up, about their lives post-this book, but I do think it was a fantastic ending! Definitely a binge-worthy series.

If you enjoy:

  • beauty and the beast retellings

  • enemies to lovers

  • hades x persephone vibes

  • unique magic systems

You'll love this series!
